I just saw The Washington Post has this as a news article on their website........ Here's hoping more U.S. news reports come out.

Jehovah's Witnesses did not protect children from abuse, inquiry finds.
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2016/nov/28/jehovahs-witnesses-did-not-protect-children-from-abuse-inquiry-finds.
im printing this off and spending my next sunday morning doing some door to door work posting this article through all the letter boxes of the street my local kh is on.. it's shocking that none of the r&f know about this.
i have a feeling that the 2 witness rule will be revised in 2017 and made to look like it was jehovah's proper time.

Successes you enjoyed since leaving the Org
by Tallon inthought i would start a discussion, and hopefully a positive one, on what successes you’ve enjoyed since leaving the org.. each of us is different as people, in life experiences etc.
however we all share one common factor in that we have all experienced the negativity, to a greater or lesser degree, of being a jw and the org.. each success is worth celebrating so i invite you to share some of your achievements.
it does not matter how ‘big or small’ it is, share it with us.. my achievement means a great deal to me both personally and professionally.

There are too many to even list. 😀
i met and married a man who supports me in everything, from going to college, changing jobs, building houses, investing, retiring, my crazy JW family, and helps my dreams come true.
I have had awesome jobs that have also supported me and now am at an executive level, with all the perks and money I could want. I have friends and co- workers that are caring and considerate.
i live in a place I love, with a job I love, with the person I love.

Feeling very lonely
by BlackWolf inthe past few months i've been feeling really depressed and kind of hopeless.
the few people that actually were a little bit friendly to me at the hall recently moved away, and i'm feeling like more of an outcast than i already was.
every meeting i just stand by myself by the wall and nobody cares, i feel really lonely and unloved.

What steps did you take to free yourself from the cult? mentally or physically?
by HereIgo infirst i ignored all of the elders phone calls to send my recommendation letter to my new congregation, truth is i had already started my fade and moved across town and didn't have a new congregation.
i deleted all jw friends on facebook.
i also threw away all of my public talks recorded on cd, all literature, even my book bag and my bible.

I moved 2000 miles away and dropped every JW I knew. Didn't keep in touch with any of them. I now keep in touch with my parents but that's it. No other JW contacts. I needed time and space to get my head straightened out and I couldn't do that with witnesses always trying to guilt me back into the cult. And now I just don't have the patience for that kind of crazy in my life.

What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

Looter - believe whatever you want, just stop trying to get everyone else to believe what you believe. We all have different life experiences that give us different perspectives and beliefs. Let everybody have their own experience and find their own path.

I have been salaried for nearly 20 years. I like it because it offers more flexibility. I don't have to take sick or vacation if I need to take care of something during work hours. I get a sizable bonus every year and starting 4 years ago I get thousands of stock options every year. I do work more than 40 hours most weeks, but the flexibility makes up for it. I work for a great company and that makes a difference.

I know it's a joke to you but it's not a joke to me when you say those types of things toward God and Jesus Christ, the only reason we truly have to live.
God and Jesus are not the reason I have to live. Why can't Jesus people ever just let it be. We believe different things about where we came from and where we are going, and that's ok.
Let it go..............

Why does it matter? What I do in my bedroom is my business, what you do in yours is yours. Worry about yourself and let other people worry about themselves. I think the real problem comes from people trying to make everyone conform to THEIR beliefs.

According to one JW there can only be 1 of 3 reasons why you left.
by Bonsai ini asked an old jw friend of mine why so many baptized individuals leave the jw religion.
"did it ever occur to you, old friend, that maybe they know something that you don't know and have valid reasons for leaving?
", i asked.. his response set me back for an answer.

It's just because they can't admit there might be something wrong with their religion. Simple as that.

Geez he had his underwear on, it's not like he was naked. If I saw this in a parking lot, I would not stare, would giggle a bit, and be on with the rest of my day.
